Founded in 1990 by two university friends, Vefa's primary aim was to create aesthetically pleasing, earthquake-resistant, and durable prefabricated structures. In fact, our development also marked the advancement of the prefabricated building sector, which was quite novel in Turkey at that time. Over the years, we have elevated prefabricated buildings to a higher standard and introducing the lightweight steel construction system in Turkey and playing a key role in its widespread adoption. By producing building materials which are essential components of these systems, we provided integrated solutions.

Our commitment to environmental sustainability has played a decisive role in developing our production and assembly processes. The academy we established serves as an educational hub in the sector, marking our dedication to advancing the field.

With this academy we provided training to ensure the sectoral development of architects, engineers and technical staff. We established the first Ministry-approved R&D center, driving innovation in products and technologies. With our expertise, we have become a center for value production, exporting our know-how, and offering consultancy services. Our investments and experience have greatly boosted Turkey's prefabricated buildings sector, enhancing its global position. As pioneers in prefabricated buildings sector, our expertise and innovative concepts have solidified our leading role. The importance of prefabricated buildings in earthquake-prone regions is clear after major disasters. We consistently highlight our contributions to emergency shelters and long-term housing solutions in both public and private sectors, engaging with authorities to share our proposed solutions.

Since 1992, we have played a vital role during major earthquakes in Turkey, using our technical expertise and production capabilities. As pioneers of lightweight steel construction in Turkey, we partnered with public and private organizations to advocate for the acceptance of the lightweight steel building system and horizontal architecture. We have significantly contributed to the development of lightweight steel standards and actively participated in workforce development for our sector.

Global climate change is causing a surge in natural disasters worldwide, posing a threat to human habitats. According to a UN report, there have been 350 to 500 medium and large-scale disasters annually over the past two decades. Consequently, more people are opting for steel houses due to their enhanced durability compared to traditional structures.

The global use of steel building systems correlates with the development rates of countries. These systems feature pre-determined processes, with components mostly produced in a controlled way in factories, leading to quicker on-site installation. The selection of materials tailored to the local climate ensures adaptability to various conditions.

After the large and extensive earthquake in February in Turkey, there's a clear need to raise awareness about emergency shelter solutions and earthquake-resistant building systems. That is why we have focused more on our innovative efforts to popularize prefabricated building systems as in developed countries. In our design office, we are actively engaged in intensive innovation efforts, particularly for emergency settlement units and permanent housing solutions. Our goal at this center is to develop innovative products and solutions that will carry the prefabricated building sector even further, and to explain these building systems to our country in the earthquake zone.
